What is server housing?

Server housing is not server hosting, although these terms are often confused. How do these concepts differ? With server hosting, you have your own server hardware and you want to install it in a datacenter - in short, you place your server in someone else's datacenter. The hosting company will provide you with redundant power, air conditioning, internet connection and other necessities.

Server hosting refers to the use of a server that you rent for a certain (usually monthly) fee. So far it looks similar? OK - let's tell the difference. With hosting, the provider is responsible for all the infrastructure and management of the server. Server housing delegates responsibility for HW and SW to you.

Server housing in four points

  • Server housing allows you to place your server in a dedicated data centre. This is designed to provide an optimal environment for server operations, including cooling, power backup and physical security, high speed internet connectivity and superior low latency performance.
  • Dedicated data centres are also protected against physical threats, typically fires and theft.
  • You can add or remove servers if needed and other equipment.
  • When does server housing pay off? Especially when you want to share costs. Costs for the operation of the data centre, you logically share with other companies.

Server housing will come in handy if you You want to improve the performance of your IT infrastructure, increase the security and reliability of your systems and focus on your core business.
