Server rental vs. rack rental

You can rent a server or rack in the datacenter. What is the difference? What do you get in SafeDX with RackHousingDX? Let's take a look at how server and rack housing rentals differ and what's right for your business.

Server rental for those who don't want to invest in their own hardware

When renting a server from a provider you are renting a serverwhich is located in its data centre. You pay monthly server rental fee. Server rental is chosen by companies that do not want to invest in their own hardware. The biggest advantage these organizations see in Scalability - can easily add and remove servers as needed.

For some customers, the perceived downside of such a solution may be limited control over hardware and the concern that in the long run, renting a server may be more expensive than if you were to purchase your own hardware.

Rack housing or When you have your servers

In contrast, when rack rental (the term "colocation" is often used in English) you rent designated space in the provider's data centre. In this rack you can place your own servers and devices. So you don't rent servers because you have your own. You place them in the rented rack.

What do you get? Renting a rack gives you the opportunity to use data centre benefitssuch as security, reliability or redundant power and connectivity solutions. So you won't have to worry about managing physical space. Plus, you have full control over your own HW and its configuration.
